Chitramrit blog #01

In this blog: Introduction, What is Chitramrit?, How it began?, about the production and some behind the scenes.

Welcome to Chitramrit video blog. My name is Mahesh and in this video I will give you a brief introduction about Chitramrit Project and how it started. So what is this Chitramrit project?

Chitramrit is a visual journey of the life events of Swami Vivekananda, Sri Ramkrishna and Holy Mother Sri Sharada Devi Chitramrit is an effort to reconstruct the life events and stories of the Holy trio and their divine play. The objective of this project is to produce historically accurateand academically useful visual representations of the Gospel of Sri Ramkrishna and his divine companions. It is proposed to contain interesting visuals explaining the stories, life timeline, maps of various location where the events took place. We are using many books for taking detailed references of the events, such as The Kathamrit, The Gospels of Sri Ramkrishna, Life of Swami Vivekananda and so on.

So let me tell you how it started.

Chitramrit project is very close to my heart. It’s is my dream project. The idea of making such a work clicked me, when I first came across the great book वचनामृत. This is the Marathi translation of the Gospels of Sri Ramkrishna.  The beauty of Mahendra Nath Gupta’s writing is simply amazing. One of the key location in the stories is the famous Dakshineshwar Kali temple. After checking some photos of Dakshineshwar on internet, I started to visualise the scenes in my mind.

I decided to make some 3d digital models as proof of concept eventually my exposure to 3d visualisation industry since 1999, made me try it for myself. Recently with my team, we tried making some 3d models of Dakshineshwar temple on a very simple, raw stage. And the results were good enough to give us encouragement to further try it out. From last one year, we are regularly putting some time for this project. We have developed primary 3d model of the entire Dakshineshwar temple site. We will be reconstructing the models in 3d with full to-the-scale accuracy. The buildings, locations will be made with all available dimensions, photographic references and historical details.

I think this kind of visual story-telling will help those who are studying Sri Ramkrishna and his divine play, with academic, historic accuracy and visual appeal as well. This could become a new kind of approach in studying the divine play of Sri Ramkrishna. This could be a good service of its own kind.

But Above all, I have some good personal reason to involve in this project.

And that is, the thoughts of this work are not letting me sleep idle.
